Pre-emptive post: Yes, I've seen it
.
To OP: Looks like a very nice system. Good luck with your sale!
P.S. Do you know how the laptop got the crack in the palmrest? I've got a couple of T23s with the same problem but they came to me like that.

It had the crack when I bought it from a friend. However, I noticed that he did not have the hard drive bay locking screw installed. I've seen a few of these with the crack and they all were missing the screw at some point, so perhaps the screw is structurally important for that corner.rkawakami wrote:P.S. Excellent machine, should sell here pretty soon!

To me personally, this would be the most desirable version of T23, because I prefer 1.13 processor over 1.2 (I don't know whether I'm getting a tongue-lashing from rkawakami for this observation) since they tend to run cooler-at least in my experience-than their younger siblings.
For anyone looking to max this one out, RAM prices have fallen significantly, and this one is well worth grabbing...not too many of these are still around in comparable condition.
To OP: you may have a tough time selling this on eBay, because people have gotten very used to buying T23s anywhere from $150-225, and not everyone appreciates SXGA+ screens...
A bump for a rare classic and a welcome to a new forum member as well!
All the best.

I do realize the price seems high, but that is as low as I can go in my current financial situation. I bought it a year ago on eBay for $370 and the prices have significantly dropped since then (much to my disadvantage).
I'd be glad to sell it on this forum if it does not sell there, just let me know if you have interest in doing business.

I'd like to think that several of my recent eBay wins has helped to lower prices but a quick survey of completed 512MB PC133 auctions seems to say that the average price is still around $50/module.ajkula66 wrote:For anyone looking to max this one out, RAM prices have fallen significantly..<snip>
@DoctorLondom: Don't be too worried about the seemingly lack of interest on eBay. I noticed that there's no "hit counter" at the bottom of the page but you should be able to see how many people have put your auction on their watch list. Then there's always the last second bidders..

The starting bid and the BIN price are so close that last-minute bidding wouldn't save much money, $15 at most. This unit would get much more interest if it had more RAM.rkawakami wrote:Then there's always the last second bidders..

I am completely amazed.
Another T23 with a standard XGA display and just 256MB more RAM just went for $380 with thirty-something bids.
http://tinyurl.com/2ut9z2
Is the extra RAM that attractive?
Edit: it doesn't even have internal wifi!

It matters very much on eBay where your add actually is...if it's "gallery featured" or "home featured" and appears on the front pages of the search ($20 extra but sometimes worth it), so it pops up first when someone searches for a T23...generally works better with units that are offered in abundance (T23,T30,T40) than it does with somewhat specific models ("P" series, etc)...
It may have also been a scam, a hacked auction. I've had way too many of these recenly, and not even for outrageous prices...and, for some reason, there tend to be more scammers on "no reserve" auctions-at least in my opinion...

With some of those bids being made by one day old eBay buyers, that tends to signal my radar as "shill bidding". Mind you, I was a victim of this awhile back so maybe I'm just jaded
.
With 512MB PC133 modules going for around $50, a fully loaded (1GB) machine can indeed make a $100 difference.
edit 1:30pm PDT: Now that I've had some time to fully read the $380 auction description, it may be that their offer of a 30 day warranty gives the buyer a little more comfort. Or it could be that they present themselves as a "company", rather than a private party trying to sell a laptop. Certainly their feedback profile does not help (13 negatives in the last month; 71 in the last year), but not every buyer looks as carefully as I (and maybe you) do. One thing that probably helped that seller is the low starting price ($0.99). If buyers have set up a ceiling below your starting price in their search construction, they'll never see your auction.
With eBay it can sometimes be the luck of the draw. If it doesn't sell this time and you want to re-list it on eBay, you can try these things:
- add the full type number in your description (2647-9LU). I know you have a photo of it, but if someone is searching for all 2647-9* systems (like I do), having that in your description will help.
- add "integrated" or "built-in" wireless to the description. That $380 system said "wireless" in the title but if you look closely it actually had an add-on wireless card (USB?).
- if you can, add "SXGA+" to the title. You can probably get rid of the "Ghz" and the extra spaces and slashes to make more room
