Z61M... Best Possible Ram Upgrade?

#1 Post by Rivan » Wed Jul 25, 2007 10:30 pm

Hi guys,

Z61M. 1.66 Gig CPU. 512 Megs of Ram (I don't know if its two sticks of 256 or 1 stick of 512)

The system is currently running windows XP.

What I would like to know, is what is the best/fastest RAM I can buy to improve the performace? What is the most RAM this machine will accept? Is there any configuration of RAM sticks that will enhance performance?

Lastly I actually live in Beijing China and often times have problems finding good hardware here. (Despite the fact that the Lenovo factory is down the street) Could someone link me to an online retailer that will have the RAM I need?

Thanks in advance,

Your system can support 3GB (1+2 modules) of maximum memory and PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) SO-DIMM is what you should look for.

There are many good brands in the market but I suggest Crucial.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Don't know too many retailers in Bejing since I'm in Iowa. I've had about the same luck whether using top or off brand memory. Usually either works.
