Missing resolution 1680x1050 in Presentation Director

#1 Post by netcomrade » Sat Jul 28, 2007 3:37 am

I have a Dell 20Inch WS Monitor.
I had to rebuild my Laptop from scratch today.
After I rebuilt it, I can no longer switch to my 'big' screen.
I was able to import the driver from the monitor, and can use it in proper resolution as a second monitor, however, the Presentation Director does not give me this resolution as an option (closest is 1600x1200 and 1400x1050)

Anone has a clue on how to fix?

I have a Benq 22w. It works fine with my T41p as well as X31 using 1680x1050.

When creating a new scheme in the Presentation Director don't tick the box for Thinkpad LCD, only the box for External unit. Then suddenly on the next page you will be able to select the desired resolution.

I only have the Swedish version of the Presentation Director so maybe my translation of the selections is not quite correct, but it should work the same way.

Regards,

Mats

Anyone has a clue?
I am currently running in dual monitor mode.. it's not too bad, but slightly annoying.

It looks like you are trying to use the DVI connector, can you try the standard VGA settings to get to the resolution you want? I run my T42p with the Dell 24" monitor and the native resolution is 1920x1200 and presentation director allows this, but I do not think it will do this with DVI, only the VGA connection.

Have you tried turning on and hooking up the monitor before booting Windows? I use a T42 with 2007WFP. With the version combo below, I can select 1680x1050 WSXGA+ in Presentation Director (both VGA and DVI) without problem:

That's the thing, this used to work prior to me rebuilding the laptop from scratch (too many hangs/slow downs).

I get the same options if I choose VGA (vs DVI) (well, the VGA connector also has 2048x1536 option available.

I have the latest driver and presentation director installed. Does anyone know what actually controls the resolution choices in the presentation director?

Edit: btw, I also have 2007WFP.

If all fail, you can just manually change the resolution in registry.
