System Update thinks a failed update was installed

#1 Post by ark » Sat Jul 28, 2007 9:41 am

I ran System Update and it told me that a new display driver was available. So I asked it to install. The installation hung and I could not cancel it. So I told the Task Manager to end the process (it was in the "InstallShield wizard is preparing the update" phase, so I figured it was probably safe) and then restarted the machine.

The machine seems to be working OK. However, the ThinkVantage program thinks that the update was installed (with an installation date of 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM!) so it will not let me install it again.

What do I do now? Ignore it and wait for the next update? Is there a way to force reinstallation manually?

Go to Control panel and see whether the update is installed or not. If it is then simply uninstall it, restart your machine, run Thinkvantage System Update again.

Another way is to manually install the driver again, here.

With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.
