No sound when undocked

Need some help with this if ya will. I've just install a 30gb hdd in my sons T22, OS Win 2000 Pro, Type 2647-5EU. I've down loaded all the drivers from IBM and there are no Exclamation Marks in Device Manager.

When I have the lappy docked the sound is as it should. All is well,but when undocked there is no sound at all. I've checked and nothing is muted.

I need to get this sound up so I would sure appreciate any and all suggestions.

Does the dock have its own speakers? If so, when it is docked, does the sound come through those speakers or the T22's speakers?

Also, just to be sure, you might want to press the grey volume up button on the keyboard several times, to make sure that the volume wasn't muted there...if you haven't already. Those buttons get overlooked quite often.

I did as you suggested with the gray volume buttons, and the sound is great.
