Standby Issue

#1 Post by icedgreentea » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:11 pm

Hi all. I noticed this problem just yesterday with my T43: when i tried to put my laptop into standby mode while running on battery, it freezes up during the screen that is used to transition to a blank screen (Preparing to stand by or something like that). On the other hand, when running on my charger, it goes to sleep with no problems. Any suggestions? I'm going to run an update on for any ThinkPad updates now but I would welcome any past experience users have had with similar problems. Thanks!

See if there is a message in the event log.

it's the event viewer, you can go to start - run then type eventvwr.exe and it'll open it, you check the system and application logs and look for warnings and errors and it will tell you what happened.
Current - Thinkpad T410si - Core i3 330m, 4GB, 250GB 5400RPM, WXGA+, FPR, BT, Camera, DVDRW, Gobi2000, Win7 Pro x32
Past - Thinkpad T410 - T400 - T61 - T60 - T43 - T42 - T41 - T40 - T23 - 600X

ah thanks. So I went into the Event Log and checked out the messages that sprung as that error occurred. It would seem that my T43 gets locked up when going into Stand by when the wireless modem is on. I tried it just before, turned off my wireless and tried stand by again.. this time it worked! Does anyone else have this problem? I wonder if it's a problem across all t43's or just a thing with my machine...

Make sure you have the latest bios release and the latest driver for the wireless card.
