SOLD: 15" UXGA FlexView LCD $139 shipped [PIX]

#1 Post by pianowizard » Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:43 am

Up for sale is a near-mint 15.0" UXGA (1600x1200) laptop LCD panel with the legendary Flexview (i.e. "in-plane switching", or IPS) technology, which has much wider viewing angle, far better contrast and color reproduction than conventional LCDs. The super-high resolution offers an incredible working area of 1,920,000 pixels, which is 144% more than the most common type of laptop LCD (1024x768, or 786,432 pixels).

The manufacturer is ID Tech, and the part numbers are 92P6683, 92P6672 and N150U3-L01. There are four dead pixels near the top that are extremely hard to find. They appear smaller than dust, and it took me several minutes of careful inspection to find them. If having a few specks of dust on the screen doesn't bother you, these dead pixels won't either. Because of these dead pixels, I am selling this awesome display for such an unprecedented low price. You will never find anything so cheap on eBay, so grab this while you can!

According to IBM's official publications, this UXGA panel is compatible with the 15.0" T series and R series, including the following models:

2373-AZx, HTx, HVx, HWx, HXx, HYx, KXx, KYx, KZx
2373-F4x, HBx, Qxx
2374-7Xx, HTx
2374-Q2x
2378-DYx, EZx
2378-RVx
2379-DYx, EZx
2379-RVx
1832-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x
1833-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x

Besides the above models, I know for sure that any 15.0" T4* with at least 64MB dedicated graphics can use this LCD, because I've tested it successfully on my T42, which has 64MB ATI Radeon 9600. Based on this thread, the R60e and R60 can also use this LCD.

UPDATE: Forum member clickpoint successfully installed a similar LCD on a 15.0" T42 with 32MB ATI Radeon 7500!

U.S. buyers pay $139, which includes shipping. International buyers pay $130 plus actual postage. You're also welcome to pick it up locally, for $130. I accept non-CC PayPal.

If you don't already have the inverter and cable, you need part numbers 91P7336 or 91P7299 for the inverter, and 91P6836 or 91P6824 for the cable. This inverter is designed for not only this UXGA screen but also the 92P6680 SXGA+ screen, and is compatible with the following R-series Thinkpads:

1829-38x, 39x, 3Ax, 3Bx, 3Cx, 3Dx, 3Ex, 3Fx, 72x, 73x, 74x, 75x, 76x, 77x, 78x, 79x, 7Ax, 7Dx, 7Ex, 7Fx, 7Hx, 7Jx, 7Kx, 7Lx, 7Mx, 7Px, 7Rx
1829-7Yx, 7Zx, B4x, B5x, B6x, B7x, Exx
1829-9xx
1830-7Bx, 7Cx, 7Dx, 7Gx, 7Nx
1830-BQU, BRG, BSA, BUU
1830-9xx
1831-7Cx
1831-BRG, BUU
1831-9xx
1832-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x
1833-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x
1836-3Sx, 3Tx, 3Ux
1836-B9x, BBx, BCx, BDx
1836-Q5x, Q6x, Q7x, QGx, QHx, QJx, QKx, QLx

The cable is specific for UXGA and can be used in these R-series Thinkpads:

1832-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x
1833-22x, 23x, 24x, 25x, 26x, 27x, 28x

I successfully used these inverter and cable to hook up this LCD panel to my T42.

BTW, I believe that this display is not only good for Thinkpads but also other brands. A Google search for "N150U3" might enable you to determine whether your non-Thinkpad laptops can use this screen. A search for this part number on this forum showed that some T60p's uses this panel.

I'm just thinking out loud here now.....
But what are the chances that this UXGA lcd panel will fit inplace (and plug in) of the UXGA screen in the A22P?
It would be nice to get the FlexView UXGA in the A22P......

According to IBM's site, this LCD is only for the T4* and R5* series.

BTW, I added a list of Thinkpad models that can use this screen to my original post above. Also, the prices of the inverter and cable have been dropped further!

It will NOT work in A22P, or even A31P for that fact. An A22P with FlexView would be a highly interesting machine indeed...and probably the world's most expensive A22P... :P

I've missed a completely burned-out T42P, otherwise this would've been mine by now...My R50P that I'm typing this one has it and it's absolutely delicious... 8)

I decided to hold on to the inverter and cable for a while, so I am only selling the LCD for now. To compensate for any inconvenience this might cause the potential buyer, the asking price of $189 now includes shipping to the U.S.

Yesterday, I looked very hard at this display and after several minutes found four dead pixels. They are extremely tiny, smaller than dust (this screen's very high pixel density makes the pixels small), and thus won't bother you at all, but because of this small blemish, I am selling it for $139 shipped to the U.S.. If you have been tempted to try UXGA Flexview, this is the screen and now is the time!

Thinking about this very, very much...dead pixels or not. But then the "is it necessary" questioning starts to happen

I will agree to that, and I have decided not to sell my SXGA+ panel either ... both are amazing panels, but the BOE-Hydis UXGA is just amazing.

I am sure there is a way but it would be a very difficult task.

This LCD is still available.

BTW, I just found a thread which says that the R60e and R60 can use this LCD.

I just got some exciting news from clickpoint regarding this LCD's compatibility with 32MB ATI Radeon 7500! Here's what he wrote:

"FYI... Just hooked up LCD from T42P to my machine 2373-L1U
It has 32MB ATI Radeon 7500..

Worked JUST FINE!!!!!!"

Thanks clickpoint for doing this experiment! This is very important information for people who want to upgrade their crappy XGA screen to the best LCD in the world!
