I need some information regarding T60 and T60p displays
Hello. I want to buy a new Thinkpad T60 or T60p with a regular display form factor and an IPS matrix. As I understand all T60x with an UXGA display are using an IPS matrix, but what about those labeled as SXGA+ with resolution 1400x1050. I know that there are IPS matrices with such specs, but are all T60 equip with them. For example does this one have an IPS - http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-ThinkPad-T60-2- ... dZViewItem . I'd be very grateful if you can point me to some other online shops that have some T60s with IPS displays still in store. Otherwise I'd probably have to go for an T61 with a wide screen, which I generally don't want to do...

I believe that all T60 or T60p models with 15.0" SXGA+ have FlexView/IPS.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

Thanks. After I posted the message I looked up the computer's number on ibm's web site and saw that it was actually with an IPS matrix. But it seems that the only laptops left with such matrices are remanifactured. Is it a good idea to buy one - the seller claims there are all with a status of brand new, but they don't have a lenovo warranty but rather some Six Months IBM Global Financing Warranty plus 3 Year Mack Computer International Extended Warranty whatever that means...

Not sure if this meets your needs but a number of us have chosen to purchase "old school" UXGA T60p's from OnSale for what should be a decent price once the rebate is paid. Of course, if you don't need the some of the features ie Verizon card, etc then you may be able to configure a satisfactory unit from Lenovo at a better price.

That's what I mean:
There are a couple of stores on ebay which sell Thinkpads with such terms. These remanufactured products are sold by IBM with a L-Claim classification, which means that they are in brand new condition. These are brand new items which were either:
(A) shipped to an IBM reseller or end user and then returned, in most cases unused, or
(B) a custom ordered configuration which was cancelled or,
(C) brand new odd lot or overstocked inventory.
They are carefully tested and recertified by IBM and come in a IBM factory sealed box. Computers include the original factory software load including OS and have a Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
They come complete with all original accessories and documentation and have a Six Month IBM Global Financing Warranty.
Total 42 Month Warranty- Six Months IBM Global Financing Warranty plus 3 Year Mack Computer International Extended Warranty.

My understanding is that the 15.0" QXGA option was available only to the R5* series (which was why I was willing to downgrade from T60 to R50p two months ago), and it's definitely IPS.RonS wrote:15" T60p screens in XGA (1024x768) or QXGA (2048x1536) are not IPS.
