FN+F3 to Turn OFF Display NO work **SOLVED**

#1 Post by lautamas » Mon Jul 30, 2007 2:51 am

Hello People,
I got my FN+F3 (turn off display) worked last month. However, it cannot work today. It showed for 0.5 second that it's preparing to turn off the display. Yet, the display doesnt turn off.

I have tried to reinstall, uninstall, uninstall and reinstall the following components with no luck:
- Power Manager
- Power Management Driver
- Hotkey Manager
- Intel INF
- ATI display driver

All are the latest from Thinkpad drivers.

Any idea what I do wrong?

Just FYI, the FN+F3 works flawlessly if I setup the FN-F3 as Power Scheme chooser

Here something like that:

I hit Fn+F5, the screen goes off for 2 seconds,
on for 2 seconds,
off for 2 seconds,
on for 2 seconds,
off for 2 seconds,
on for 2 seconds,
off for 2 seconds,
on for 2 seconds,
off for 2 seconds,
on for 2 seconds

And so on :?
Only way to stop it is to hit the powerbutton, getting into sleep and hit it again to get back. It kinda sucks :?

SOLVED...

I finally uninstall the whole ATI driver...completely! reboot..

Reinstall ATI driver using the SETUP.exe instead of issetup.exe like previously (dont know if this matters at all)

I reboot...the FN+F3 can turn off display just fine...
