Two issues, hard drive and motherboard

First how can I find the part # for the motherboard?

Second, I been posting about my screen is 12" of view space when I should be 14".

Well, while taking and putting my laptop back together, I made a mistake and hit the power button before I can install the HD. Well the little box came up state "HD is missing". But, I had the full 14" of viewing space. The I shut off the computer and re-booted and it was back to the 12" viewing space.

So, I did it again, re-booted without the HD and I had the 14" of viewing space, then back to the 12" when the HD was installed.

Could this be a bad HD or the motherboard?

Oh, now I can not load Windows XP on my hard drive. It goes to the point of reading all the files, the press F8 to accept, then states " Opening Windows" and it don't do nothing. The CD stop spinning.

Then my father in law gave me a Recovery disk for the a T22 and everything work perfect. I can even use the "THINKPAD" button.
