Upgrade 14" T43 1875-DLU with SXGA+ screen
How do I go about upgrading this XGA to an SXGA+?
- Possible?
- Use Shop/ Do myself?
- Cost? Screen?
- Where to buy?
- Additional Cost (wiring, inverters, etc)?
- How to replace?
- Effort factor? Would it require a lot of time & tools & patience?

just buy the top half and do a swap and you'll be good to go. Check on ebay or even the marketplace for SXGA+ screens from the T40, T41, T42 and T43 and i think even some or the R series too.

- about swapping an XGA to a SXGA+ display, I believe you may find some useful information in this thread (see the post of Sun Jul 29). In that thread, specific reference is being made to T42's, but the same is possible for T43's; you just need to find the similar T43 part-numbers.
IBM T42p's (2373-Q1U & -Q2U): 2.1 GHz, 15" UXGA FlexView, 2 GB RAM, 128 MB FireGL T2, 128 GB 1.8" SATA SSD, IBM a/b/g, BT, Win 7 Ultimate
IBM T42 (2373-N1G): 1.8 GHz, 15" SXGA+ FlexView, 2 GB RAM, 64 MB Radeon 9600, 64 GB 1.8" SATA SSD, IBM a/b/g, BT, Win 7 Ultimate

Amazing amount of information Johan. So, to find the appropriate part number I should look where? Where to look? Oh, well - Parts information would be a pretty good place to start, don't you think?
Also, the Hardware Maintenance Manual is another detailed source of highly useful information Go get it!!
It would be highly interesting to hear your experience, if you do this swapping... how expensive did it end up being (and where did you get the parts?); how difficult was it, and what is your level of "technical expertise"; is it very difficult, or would you recommend an "average technical" person to do it? And, not the least: Was it worth the effort?
Please share...
Best regards,
Johan
