ZoneAlarm seems to have incorrectly identified a windows XP setup file on my T42p as a Trojan. Like an idiot rather than quarantining it I deleted it... only to find that my display no longer works properly.
The file in question is C:\Windows\inf\oem8.pnf
The system is a T42p running Windows XP Service Pack 2,
specifically T42p type 2373-H16 / XP build 2600.xpsp_sp2_qfe.070227-2300
If anyone else has a T42p running Windows XP I would be very grateful if you could email a copy of the file in question to me at testerkate [at] gmail [dot] com.

If you're curious, this pnf file is a precompiled setup file that seems to load display options. Without it I can run my computer in safe mode, or in VGA mode, but when booting up normally I get a black screen even though the computer is obviously working.
Diagnostics:
I don't have an external monitor, so can't test to see if that still works.
Toggling Fn F7 just shifts between a completely black screen (default) and a glowing but dark screen.
I have installed the latest display drivers from Lenovo, but these didn't help.
My best guess is that this part of the precompiled setup has something to do with selecting the display options. I would rather not have to reinstall Windows to fix this 'small' problem.
Other notes:
2373-H16 has the 15 inch UXGA screen. I doubt that this impacts the content of the pnf file.

Thanks for your help!

.pnf files are generated from .inf files.
Whenever you can delete any .pnf files and they'll be back if you reinstall/repair the driver to which it belong.
Look for oem8.inf because this is the father and generator of oem8.pnf
This file is part of ThinkPad Power Manager Driver, which must be at C:\DRIVERS\WIN\IBMPM folder from where you can reinstall if you want the easy way, double click Setup.exe
Enjoy.
