Nope that's the point of the password. You are probably in receipt of a stolen machine and if the seller doesn't have the power on password then don't buy it.

Yes, you can:

When booting up press F1 to enter BIOS, choose "security", then "power-on security", enter current password at the first field and leave the others empty.

So, you will enter without entering that password.

Enjoy your new toy.

If it's truly a power-on password, then the procedure to remove it is documented in the T43x Hardware Maintenance Manual.

If, however, there's ALSO a supervisor (BIOS) password and you follow the instructions to remove the power-on password, then your system will become locked once again with no easy way to remove the supervisor password.

The previous suggestions are the best we can offer: return the system to the seller and get your money back.

Well yeah i guess i just assumed that he didn't know the power on password. If he indeed doesn't then my statement is correct. If he does know the password then stopping it from asking for the password is relatively easy. Just follow info posted above :)

Removing a power-on password IS documented in the HMM, and as such, is allowed to be discussed.

However, talk about bypassing the BIOS password is not.

If it is a supervisor password that cannot be removed by normal, simple methods and you cannot return it, I am interested in buying it. Send me a private message.

Just curious: where is that stated in the Forum rules/guidelines? I think I remember seeing it at one time, but I cannot find it now.
