Echo Indigo PC Card for X40 really helps boost audio

#1 Post by underclocker » Sat Aug 04, 2007 10:15 am

FYI-

I absolutely love my X40, which is dedicated for travel only use.

However, I recently joined Movielink and downloaded a few movies for a trip. I found that on airplanes and in airports there was just too much background noise to hear most movies. Granted I was using iPod headphones, but there is only so much extra stuff I'll take with me on a trip - and ear-covering headphones are out.

Anyway, a little research revealed that the Echo Indigo line of PC Card sound cards for laptops were excellent. I picked one up from eBay and indeed it works as reviewed. It has a thumbwheel volume knob that controls an internal amplifier. The model I purchased, simply called the Echo Indigo, also has two headphone output jacks whcih are controlled by the same volume knob, great for my wife and me. Anyway, the sound is much fuller and much louder. It's a great addition and it augments the only weakness I found on my X40 so far (I am wrapping the pathetic business speaker in with the gerneral sound system weakness on the X40 line).

I have the Indigo IO version of the card, which does recording. Not only does it sound great, it does a very nice job with tranfers from my vinyl to digital.
