X60/X6 problems - any thoughts

I received my new X60 with X6 Ultrabase in mid-June, and have sent back both to the depot twice:

1. The X60 display has a glow which is brightest along the bottom edge of the LCD, and fades to what I would call "normal" about mid-way up the screen. Where the glow is bright, it washes out color and contrast. This is visible at all intensities, battery and plugged in, and holding the screen flat in front of one's nose, so it's not an angle issue. Supposedly, they've changed the LCD panel twice and the glow's still there. Each time, they say it's fixed.

2. I bought the multi-burner optical drive with the X6, and when inserting it in the bay, at the very end it gets pushed upwards, so that when set, there's a gap opened up between the bottom edge of the drive's plastic lip and the bay opening edge (bottom).

I've seen X60, X61, (display and base) and T61 (for display) without these issues. I'm wondering if it's even worth asking them to send me a new one. I read conflicting things on different sites about the quality these days. Almost seems like Lenovo has 2 quality tiers.
