Non-standard quote button placement ?
I'm gonna get flamed for this, oh well...
In all the other forums I've been, the quote button is at the end of the post. Here it is at the top. To make matters worse, the profile button is at the bottom.
I'd suggest the quote/edit button being at the bottom, that way, peopel can read the post, and immediately click the quote button, instead of having to scroll up.

I don't think you have a strong case that this forum is different than other forums. This forum uses a default theme that shipped with phpBB version 2.x. There are many, many forums that use this theme and therefore many users are quite used to seeing the buttons exactly where they are. If "all" the other forums where you post are set up differently, then you are probably frequenting forums run by vBulletin or a newer version of phpBB. By contrast, probably close to half of the forums I frequent have the quote button where it is currently in this forum.
...[Gulp! Am I really encouraging a discussion about this??!?]
Phil.

To quote our esteemed system owner, from a previous thread of similar nature about the button placements on the ThinkPads.com implementation of phpBB...

That is a pretty nice way of saying "The buttons are not going to move so get used to it"BillMorrow wrote:If one can read the manual for a thinkpad and operate the software then one can learn to cope with these trivial differences.

Ah, but that can be turned into "if one can read the manual for a Thinkpad and do some hardware repairs, then one can read the phpBB manual and move the buttons."BillMorrow wrote:If one can read the manual for a thinkpad and operate the software then one can learn to cope with these trivial differences.
(I don't care about the location personally.)

now now now..
the quote button has been where it is for years..
i have too little time and very limited experience messing with the code..
these are two reasons the button will stay where it is..
hes right though, it probably should be at the bottom of a post rather than at the top..
