LF: X2x XP Pro Restore Disks

#1 Post by jamiphar » Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:26 pm

Does anyone out there have a set of X2x restore disks that they can mail/FTP to me?

Thanks in advance!

If this is for your X21, then I don't think that official XP recovery disks are available (according to the HMM). Also, the HMM specifies separate XP sets for the X22 and X23/X24. So it appears that there's not one set for all X2x systems.

Ah, I see. I thought I read somewhere that any of the X22/23/24 disks will work with it.

The X21 didn't come with a COA, but I'd be using an OEM sticker I pulled from a dead ThinkPad.

I do not have any x2x restore discs (yet). I do have a Windows XP SP2 OEM disc. PM me if you are interested.

Recently I tried to use an X23/X24 disk set on an X22 and it did not go well. Windows eventually booted up in 16-color VGA mode (yech!) and then started asking me about activation  ! Luckily I had also bought a set of X22 disks, which did install perfectly. The way that the HMM describes the disk sets, and what happened to me with the X23/X24 install on an X22, leads me to believe that you won't be able to run any of the XP recovery disks on your X21 (gack!... too many X's...).
