Computer won't boot after cloning

#1 Post by house kitten » Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:36 am

I cloned the hard drive on my T-42 over the weekend and although the computer tells me everything was successful (tried it twice) when I try to boot to the USB HDD (the new disk is still in the enclosure) I get a flashing cursor and nothing more. I have removed it from the enclsure and installed it and I still get the same flashing cursor.

I cloned it using the jumper setting as both the master and also using cable select. No differance still same flashing cursor. I am about to forget cloning and just install using my R&R disks.

Do I ned to edit the registry? I am assuming this is a MBR error????

You can try this master boot record repair diskette. I do not know if it will work on an external drive or not. Just be sure NOT to overwrite the MBR on your internal drive.
