Full screen brightness on battery?

#1 Post by propellen » Tue Aug 07, 2007 11:35 am

Hi,

Is it possible to have _full_ screen brightness while running on battery?

Sincerely,
propellen

you'd have to go to the BIOS or the thinkpad configation or i think even in power option to find that option.

LCD brightness - HIGH instead of Normal and that will allow it to be the brightest even while on battery. Sux up some battery juice tho...
Current - Thinkpad T410si - Core i3 330m, 4GB, 250GB 5400RPM, WXGA+, FPR, BT, Camera, DVDRW, Gobi2000, Win7 Pro x32
Past - Thinkpad T410 - T400 - T61 - T60 - T43 - T42 - T41 - T40 - T23 - 600X

"Fn + Home" will allow you to increase the screen brightness, tweaking with gpu configuration is another option. If these settings are not enough for you then do what SHoTTa35 advised you about changing things in the Bios settings.

VISTA

Is there something in VISTA or in the new thinkvantage utilities that covers this? The thinkvantage thinkpad configuration utility is not loaded in vista or with the thinkvantage productity center.

Yes, in Vista for automatic brightness level control when either plugged in or on battery, you have to set the desired brightness in the power settings in the control panel for whatever power plan you are using. Control panel/power options/change plan settings/adjust display brightness for both plugged in and battery.

Even that doesn't get the brightness to the top. I had to change the brightness setting in the BIOS to enable battery brigthness to go to eleven 11.

Seems the direct access in the thinkvantage configuration panel has been removed.

Unfortunately there isn't any Thinkpad Configuration utility released for newer versions of *61 machines regardless of OS (Windows XP or Vista).

I kind of miss that app although I didn't really use it that much. I wonder why they have abandoned it.
