Restoring the hidden Recovery partition
Restoring the hidden Recovery partition
Hi to all.
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X60s and soon after receiving I've deleted the hidden partition, used to Recover the preinstalled Windows XP SP2.
Is there a way/method to restore in any way? I should note at this point that the partition does not exist anymore and I have no recovery CD/DVD.
Thanks in advance,
zee

Lenovo X60s
does nobody on the forum have them? I called the technical support but they have to charge me 110 euros for the job
( the guy at the technical support I called actually encouraged me to get the Recovery media by myself.
I do have a valid license for my Windows XP (or Vista for that matter), so there's no piracy involved.

By he way, how do I create one? I do not see any "create hidden partition recovery media" option in my RnR3's panel? Or is it available only via thinkvantage startup program?arni wrote:Since you've deleted the hidden partition there is no way to restore it unless you have your recovery media available.

Go to Start > All Programs > Access IBM > Create Recovery Discs OR Start > All Programs > ThinkVantage > Create Recovery Media > Product Recovery. The software only allows you to create one copy of the Product Recovery Disc set, however if you Restore Factory Contents, you are given the option once again.joshrob wrote:By he way, how do I create one? Yes, I'm aware of it, but thanks anywayGomJabbar wrote:Please note that using the Product Recovery Discs erases all existing data on your hard drive.
I want to use create them in case of something goes wrong during fresh-install.
Is it possible, after deleting the hidden partition and after windows crash, to recover a system from a base-backup-bootable-cd made via RnR, or does the deleting leave me only with an only option of totally cleaning my hard drive with recovery media?

Yes, that should work. Please read the on-system help for more detailed information on Recover. You can get to on-system help from the Access IBM button or ThinkVantage button.joshrob wrote:Is it possible, after deleting the hidden partition and after windows crash, to recover a system from a base-backup-bootable-cd made via RnR?
