#1 Post by gunston » Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:30 am

What is your average wattage for your T4x when using battery?

as for mine, average with
15W (wireless connected, 3 bar brightness, light file transfering)
17-20W (wireless connected, 3 bar brightness, heavy file transfering)
battery can last for 2.5 - 3hrs

(replacement from SONY recalled battery)
Cycle Count: 42
Full Charge Capacity: 47.91Wh
Design Capacity: 51.84Wh
Manufacturer: SANYO
Manufacture Date: 2006-10-18
First used date: 2007-04

Configuration:
T43,
1.86Ghz, 1G ram, 6cells battery, 80G HD 5400rpm
running at 0.7v@800Mhz (RM CPU clock utility)

well if you're gonna give battery run times you have to also give capacity remaining from the Power Manager app.

As for me. I haven't fully tested the battery on my T42 yet (no need to waste a cycle and risk damage during a deep discharge) but with this is what i get:

Power Manager readings:
94% Battery remaining (46.70Wh)
Full capacity = 50.05 Wh
Design capacity = 51.83 Wh (Panasonic 6 Cell)
Cycles = 20
Manufactured Date = 2005-9-12
First Used = 2005/10

Brightness = 3/7
WIFI = Not Connected but ON (IBM Thinkpad Wireless II A/B/G )
LAN = Connected

Light Transfer:
Current = 1.15A
Wattage = 13.30
Remaining = 3:27hours (92% remaning)

Heavy Transfer:
Current =1.39A
Wattage = 16.79W
Remaining = 3:01hours (93% remaning)

No Transfer: (WIFI OFF/Brightness 0/7)
Current = 1.01A
Wattage = 12.23W
Remaining = 3:40hours (89% Remaning)

Specs in signature.

Amazing, you have 2-year battery with only 20 cycles and almost 98% capacity.
For curiosity sake, have you ever really use your battery and what did you treat it.

I'm getting around 11-12w with wireless off, min brightness. 15w with wireless, max brightness, transferring stuff.

T40/1.5ghz/1G/9cell/40g 5400rpm. Undervolted.

looks like T43 has consume roughly 1-3W more than its lower model like T42/41/40

could be the PCI-express card, and chipset related!!

Well in all honesty, i haven't had it for 2yrs. I got the battery from MD_Lieber and he said he normally uses 9 Cell batteries. He only used the 6 Cell sparingly during trips when he wanted to keep the weight down. When i got it from him it had 10 cycles but it was still at 50.10wH so i've only used .05 Whrs since i've got it even tho i've slapped on 10 cycles in about 1 1/2 months now. Normally it's used on AC adapter. Bought a AC adapter from him also to use at work and leave another at home (less weight to travel with) but sometimes i had the battery go all the way down while i was at Starbucks and places like that. I have my Power Manager app set to start charging when below 86% and stop at 96% also so not to put too much wear on the battery constantly charging it to 100%.

my battery status (118.32kb photo link included)

T40, 1.5GHz, 1GB ram, Wireless Intel 2915abg on, Bluetooth BMDC200 on. Automatic power management setting. LCD brightness 2/7
When the laptop is not doing anything (still runs at 1.5GHz) I got 11.5W power consumption. No NHC or tpfancontrol installed.(I took the photo right after I finished installing the system, online updates, and some essential software such as antivirus program)

http://www.ele.uri.edu/~sclan/xjv/gal/I ... CT0114.JPG

I know the battery has about 94% capacity(actual/design) left.
I took the photo several days ago because I am selling the laptop.

I am not that surprised. My R50p's 6-cell battery had about 29 Wh before reconditioning. When I reconditioned it last month, I had to completely drain it. I wanted to do it as fast as possible, so I cranked its 15.0" QXGA display (which consumes more power than smaller screens with lower res) brightness all the way up, surfed the internet over WiFi, and played a movie DVD. Despite all these demanding tasks, the battery still lasted almost two hours.

2668-g4g

Original description: P M 750, 1GB RAM, 60GB HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 128MB ATI FireGL V3200, CD-RW/DVD-R Multi-Burner, Intel 802.11a/b/g wireless(MPCI), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint Reader, 9c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro

but I buy 1G ram more and exchange battery from 9 cell to 6. I have sec t43p 2668-g4g (with 9 cels work over 5h) and t40 with 9 cells. 9 cell bat is too big and too heavy.
