Just out of courisity...
Do Admins delete posts here?
Do Admins delete posts here?
If a post is clearly out of order (breaking the rules), then yes. We usually will PM the user explaining why we have deleted the post. I say usually because one day some months ago I ran across a new post that had a criminal intent. I hit the Delete post key faster than you can blink an eye, explained to the "management" but never bothered to inform the user. The other admins are more gracious than me. ... JDH

No No (and you can move this thread here as well since it doesn't belong here eather...),
I think I made a coment in the (now locked) thinkpad comparison thread... where I was wonderin why they did not compare a thinkpad to a XPS 1330... I thought it was liggit....
But well... some body didn't think so....

If I see a post that's out of line, then I will move the entire thread out of public view while a decision is made among the mods and admins about it. The reason for moving the entire thread is that it is not possible to split off a post and then re-combine/re-insert it back into the original thread.
The other actions that are possible are:
- immediate deletion of the post (which I have never done)
- editing of the content in question (which I have done)
In the cases where there's a transgression of the rules I will inform the poster via PM why it's been moved. If it's a simple matter of moving it to the appropriate conference, then I may contact the poster. If it appears that one of your posts/threads has "disappeared", then go to the main forum index page and click on the "view your posts" link. Or try searching for it using the Search link at the top of every page.

While I move threads around or move threads or individual posts out of sight, I almost never delete posts. I like a paper trail.

As well as for me too. To clarify my previous statement about never immediately deleting a post, I was referring to ones that are of a "questionable" nature or obviously violates a forum rule. Consecutive duplicate post in the same thread are nuked by me since it usually means that there was a site hickup or a double-click of the "submit" button. Duplicate threads in difference conferences earn a lock (not a delete) on the one that is more out-of-place.tomh009 wrote:Exactly the same for me. Duplicate posts are fair game.

Oh, yeah, even I delete those since they're obviously an error of some sort.rkawakami wrote:Consecutive duplicate post in the same thread are nuked by me since it usually means that there was a site hickup or a double-click of the "submit" button.

...well nice to know that the admins & moderators here are not the divas I got to know in other forums...
Although I have to say that the discussions here are way more... civilized, even If I would like a bit more Lenovo criticisms.
Its about information and discussion... not warship
.
(but don't get me wrong I own a t23, a t41p and just ordered a t61p...)

You can criticize Lenovo all you want here; you just have to keep it civil and fact-based. We keep the flamethrowers on low.

Nonny is cool, but other admins have deleted my posts where I just asked the OP if he was open to suggestions other than thinkpads.nonny wrote:

This, I found to be extremely disappointing.

My dear forummer, all the admins are cool. That post of yours which got deleted is due to: it's a personal question and it can be done privately using the PM function.wearetheborg wrote:Nonny is cool, but other admins have deleted my posts where I just asked the OP if he was open to suggestions other than thinkpads.
