Cooling upgraded processors................

I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of weeks now. Several posters have recommended the long fan for better cooling in processor upgrades. But the short fan cools ONLY the CPU whereas the long fan is cooling both the CPU and the GPU. Wouldn’t this actually be WORSE for a hot processor than the short fan alone?

Well, I'm speaking specifically about the lower-end machines with a non-cooled GPU (like the Radeon7500).

I think it depends on the machine. My T41 has the Radeon 7500 in it, the short fan in it, and an upgraded CPU (years ago) and it runs nice and cool most of the time. ... JDH

I put in a Dothan 1.8Ghz (up from a Banias 1.4), and with 7200-rpm hard drive, wireless and all, it runs about 39 degree C much of the time (42 in the summer). ... JDH
