My ATI X300 is not that bright....but Catalyst won't install
My ATI X300 is not that bright....but Catalyst won't install
I am having trouble getting my screen to get bright enough.....it has an ATI x300.
I tried installing the Catalyst download from the Lenovo site but it will not install in the 2668-44U.
Is there an updated ATI package that will install?
Thank you
Elliot

Screen brightness
Thanks for the reply.
I have it set at full brightness.....the power settings have it full on AC and full on Battery......but the screens has dimmed a bit.
Do you have a link for the Catalyst you installed?
Regards
Elliot

Be sure you have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed before you attempt to install the Catalyst Control Center.
1. Uninstall all ATI stuff
2. Downloadand install the .NET Framework 2.0
3. Try the ATI package again

Catalyst.....
Over the formatting of the drive Framework 2.0 was installed an it enabled me to install the Catalyst exe.
BUT, I still do not have any control of the screen color or brightness outside of the Fn/Screen bright buttons......
Is there an ATL package that has the tools for color and Brightness/Contrast????
Thank you

Hi Elliot:
Some years ago, the inverter that supplies power to the screen backlight illumination slowly failed on another ThinkPad that I owned. The failure was gradual - the screen kept getting dimmer and dimmer. I took the machine to the IBM service depot (back when they had walk-in service depots), and they replaced the inverter - everything was then back to normal.
So, if you do have control of the screen via the function + brightness buttons, but the screen is not as bright as it should be, I think that you should consider that a gradual failure of the inverter could be the possible cause of your problem.
