FS: T23 & X22 (Pic)

#1 Post by stevenvh » Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:43 am

Hi all, I'm selling my old Thinkpads to make way for an X40.
I will sell them both as barebones or with RAM and HDD upgrades. Shipping in the US is included.

T23 2647-4MU, 1.13 GHz, 128MB, DVD-ROM, no HDD - $225 or w/2x256MB Crucial cas2 & 40G Seagate - $325
link: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=26474MU
For $325 I'll also include an Ultrabay battery which adds 1 hr + to battery life and a Port Replicator.

X22 2662-95U, 800MHz, 128MB, no HDD - $250 or w/512MB Hynix (=640MB) & 40G Seagate -$350

This one has an X2 ultrabase w/floppy and DVD-ROM included.

Both of these machines are in good working order and are thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
Whenever I get a used TP for my own use I strip them down to the socket, replace the internal battery, clean everything, reseat the CPU and heatsink with AS and test them. Both of these will be delivered freshly serviced.

I bought both of these from Bruce M and they are excellent machines that have served me well. IIRC, the X22 was Bruce's personal machine, so you can own a piece of TP history :-)
I carried them both, at different times, in the field (Net Admin for WISP) and neither has ever failed me. With the upgrades they both run Windoze XP very well and the T23 is especially Linux friendly.
They both have normal wear for their age. Both have minor display scuffs from the trackpoint, the cases show some wear, but are in above average condition, there are known problems with either and nothing is broken or missing.
Also, both have good refurb batteries from batteryrefill.com, both include the original power adapter and the Seagate drives are both under 5-year warranty and are 5400RPM, 8MB versions.

PM with any questions. Prices are firm. Thanks for looking.

MOD EDIT: Pic warning added in the subject line.

I've done business with Steven and would vouch for him being a 1000% trustworthy gentleman. His machines are very well kept, just look at the pristine maxed-out A31P lower in this thread, which used to belong to him...

Bump for a great guy and quality machines!

George, thanks for the good word for stevenvh.

Considering the prices, it would be nice for links to some pics...

Thanks,

I don't think the prices are high for fully functional and professionally serviced machines.
I will get some photos posted soon.

Thanks

The prices aren't high, but they are not cheap either. Good prices deserve a good look at, that's all. Pics to me anyway, always sell the product. I believe most people here on the forum will agree with me.

Plus, I might be interested in purchasing one and I like to look at pictures myself..............................

I won't argue about the X22 as those are fairly rare (although in my personal opinion it's about $75-100 overpriced) but the T23 for $350 is way excessive. I see good working T40s and T41s on Craigslist for $350-400 all day long and therefore see no reason to pay that much for an older P3 based machine. I wouldn't pay a dollar over $250 for it fully loaded if I was looking for one.

It's also possible to buy other Pentium M based machines that are only a couple of years old for that much. Sure they won't have Thinkpad quality but they'll be way faster.

Also, most people here can claim that their machines are professionally serviced because many (if not most) users on this forum know by far more about Thinkpads than your average IT/repair shop guy.

Reduced price for T23 (photo soon) and uploaded X22 photo.

Oh and synchromesh (sorry all  ) your personal opinion was not requested, you're rude and I don't claim the machines are professionally serviced, I am a Pro and the machines will be as stated and worth every penny. Don't agree? Fine, don't buy. And good luck on Craigs List

I didn't mean to be rude; was just trying to give you a heads up. Correct me if I'm wrong but here is a thread where a T23 not unlike yours was sold just yesterday:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=48539

Notice the price. It's about 1/2 of your initial asking. Just something to ponder. And no, I don't need either of these machines.

Also, just out of curiosity, what are you a Pro at? Many of us are Pros in something or other here.

Oh, and so far I have pretty good luck with Craigslist, thank you.

Sniping at a seller for what you believe to be a high asking price will not accomplish anything other than to start a war of words. It will either become quite obvious that that price is out of line when the system doesn't sell, or somebody who really wants it will pony up the $$$.

If you really want to give a "heads up" you can do so via a PM.
