X61s Docking Station

#1 Post by phillyd2 » Mon Aug 13, 2007 11:10 am

Is UltraBase the only option for X61s? I seem to remember that for previous X models there was also a Port Replicator type thing but I don't see it on the web site.

Is there a trusted ebay seller or another place to buy for less that direct?

Only UltraBase will work for the X6 series, yes.

How about this puppy?

Port Replicator FRU 40Y8160 Model ACP50

My coworker just got it for his X60. I'm guessing it would also work with a X61s?

Hmmm ... that's a USB port replicator. It's not listed as supported with any of the X6* models, but it is supposed to work with any USB 2.0 ThinkPad.

But this is, I believe, connecting everything through a single USB 2.0 connection. Is this what you are looking for?

Is your coworker using the VGA output on the port replicator? If so, what resolution (and colour depth) is available on the replicator?

That USB Port Rep is a solution they introduced for the 3000 series. The VGA supposedly supports resolutions up to 1280x1024. (16 Bit).
I don't see any reason it shouldn't work with a ThinkPad.
