Just ordered 14.4 SXGA+ 128mb 570m T61p.. some questions

#1 Post by denizpa » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:03 am

Hi everyone one, this is my first post to the forums.

I just ordered a T61p

7500 2.2
14.1 SXGA+ 4:3
128mb 570m
2gig 2DIMMS
100gb 7200rpm
1gig turbo memory
fingerprint reader

I'm wondering,

1. my dad has a 14.1 4:3 T60.
What kind of difference in the actual physical shape of the system can i expect?

2. will the adv. mini dock that works with the T60 work with this new T61p?

3. Will the batteries and charges that work with the T60 work with the T61p?

4. I heard some good things about the FX 570m cards. Even though the version I will get is a 128mb version, I am hoping to be able to play games (CS source, WoW, Half Life 2, etc).

Does anybody have any experience with gaming on the 128 mb version of the FX 570m? What should I expect?

Thanks a bunch in advance.
Sorry for all the questions
Cheers

1) The 4:3 T60 is about an inch narrower but about an inch deeper, the widescreen is slightly thicker but not enough to really be noticeable.

2) Yes it will

3) The chargers will work (although youd want to make sure that the T60 is not using integration intel graphics as this would mean it shipped with the 65W adapter and, while it will work, the battery will take longer to charge and the system would not run at full performance), the batteries will not as they will not physically fit

4) I'm not a PC gamer (XBox and Wii for me) so i've not really tried any gaming on a 570M, I would have thought it would handle the games you mention but maybe not at full resolution and it may struggle with newer games coming out.

are you sure about this ? those are both 14" 4:3 machines . they should have almost identical size. T61 a bit larger but not more then 1mm here and there.

he didn't ask about a wide screen ...

Sorry my mistake, I thought it was a widescreen model.

As the previous answer related to the widescreen model, I will attempt to answer for the T61 14.1 SXGA+ version:

1. Roughly the same size and weight as your Dad's T60.

2. Yes, the advanced mini dock will work.

3. Yes, batteries and chargers will work / be interchangeable.

4. Also heard good things but don't know.
