Request T61 recovery XPP CDs from Lenovo to downgrade Vista

#1 Post by mailww » Tue Aug 14, 2007 8:45 am

According to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en,

they said,
"OEM End User License Agreement (LICENSE TERMS)....
Rights to OEM versions of systems software are granted in
the OEM License Terms. The OEM License Terms for most
OEM versions of systems software do not grant downgrade
rights. The exception is the OEM License Terms for the
Windows® XP Professional operating system and the
Windows Vista™ Business and Windows Vista Ultimate
operating systems, which grant downgrade rights. See the
full text of the OEM License Terms for the specific downgrade
rights."

So, We should be able to have Recovery CD to downgrade Vista into XPP

Yesterday, I called lenovo regarding this issue and they said "they don't believe you can do this."

I argued......

Finally, today, they posted we do have right to request Recovery XPP DVDs/CDs from them.

I purchased my set this morning, and I was warned that even though the web page says there would be no licensing issues, be aware that is always the possibility that they may not work licensing wise.

The person I talked to didn't know anything about the offer, and had to point him to the web page.

Dual Boot

#8 Post by kkwst2 » Thu Aug 16, 2007 3:51 pm

Anyone know if there is a way to dual boot using the XP downgrade? I would like to start using Vista away from work, but still need XP for work, as the work apps will only work on XP. Perhaps I could install XP on a HDD installed in the UltraBay SATA adapter.

Any words of wisdom?

Use the 'Search' function in the forum header and search for all words "dual boot xp vista". Check the box to look at posts. This will get you started.

Yes it came with Ultimate, but you still have to pay for the XP recovery discs, just like you would pay for the Vista recovery discs, if you didn't make them yourself.
