A few days ago, I undocked my machine from its docking station, put it in its case, and took it somewhere. When I got there, I discovered that it had not gone into standby after I removed it from the docking station, and the battery had completely discharged.
When I got back home, I put the laptop back into the docking station, and the battery recharged normally.
The next day, a message popped up from the Lenovo Message Center saying "Your battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery." This despite the fact that the battery appeared to have charging just fine.
The day after that, the battery charge indicator showed "battery missing," despite the battery being fully charged.
I removed and replaced the (same) battery, and the machine has behaved perfectly since then. The charge indicator shows 100%, the battery information panel shows the status as "good", and generally, nothing seems to be amiss.
Should I dismiss this problem as a case of the battery charge software becoming confused, or it is worth trying to pursue a battery replacement.
PS: I checked and the battery is *not* subject to recall.

Transient "permanent" battery problem

there's a recall for this too....
i can't find it right this second but someone was talking about it not so long ago. You can even replace your battery even if it's expired up to 6months after.

Unless i read your original thingy wrong then the above should take care of it.

Thanks for the pointer.
The thing is that after removing and reinstalling the battery, the problem has not reoccurred. Nevertheless, I tried running the battery-checking tool. It said "Thank you for using Lenovo's Battery Verificaton Tool. At this time, you are not eligible for a replacement battery."
So I guess I should just do nothing unless the problem reappears.
