LF: One Missing Thai Keyboard Key for T4x or R5x machines

#1 Post by underclocker » Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:45 pm

I've managed to dislodge/break one key on a T40 keyboard.

I broke the Tilde (~) key parts below the key cover. All I need is a any complete letter or number key from a Thai T40/T41/T42/T43/R50/R51/R52 keyboard.
I still have the perfect key cover.

Apparently, there is a difference between the Thai and China keyboards, the key assemblies are quite different and not interchangeable.

I'm happy to cover postage plus a small key fee :)

Please PM me.

(Updated, don't need China keyboard keys anymore.)

I'm looking for the following complete key assembly's (key top plus all small plastic pieces that hold it to the keyboard) for T4x or R5x ThinkPads;

--> Tilde key (the one with these symbols, ` ~) for a Thai keyboard

--> Left arrow key for a China keyboard

--> Back page key (above the left arrow key) for a China keyboard

I've never used anything except an English keyboard.

If you didn't consider the white characters on the keys and just the shape of the keys, aren’t' all of the keyboards basically the same?

This may not be true, but if it is, couldn't take any keyboard from a like machine and and any key with a similar shape and draw the character you need on them and clear coat the key so it would work?

He's referring to US English keyboards. There are two different origins of these keyboards: one kind is made in China, one kind is made in Thailand. The mechanism for attaching the keys from the two origins is different. The answer to your question is no, it wouldn't work.

I just learned this myself, so I thought I'd share. :)
