ExpressCard slot on 4:3 14.1 SXGA+ T61p?

#1 Post by denizpa » Thu Aug 16, 2007 3:15 pm

when choosing my configuration, I chose the
PC Card Slot & Express Card Slot
option.

from what i've heard, the 4:3 models dont have an integrated media card reader which is something I really want.

I'm just wondering what is the cheapest available media card reader (SD needed) that will be flush when inserted into my thinkpad?

I was looking at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820270001

but am open to any suggestions, thanks!
Cheers

Does it need to be an ExpressCard format or could you also use a PC Card format SD reader?

im not planning on sticking anything in the PC card slot, so yes, PC card format memory card readers will work as well

I believe you can sign up for Google Checkout and get $10 off that price as well. I found a bunch of other PC Card media adapter for less than $15 as well, search around.

Another one...

And there are a buch on eBay for $9 with $6 shipping.

I see that someone wrote in the comments that this won't take the SanDisk Extreme II - I have the SanDisk Extreme III. Has anyone used this with the Extreme III?

My personal belief would be that if a Sandisk card fails in a Sandisk reader, something is wrong with one of the two. Personally I have not used that card reader, so it could potentially be the black sheep among other good Sandisk products.

Slow slow slow ... if you want your Extreme III to perform at reasonable levels, you need a CardBus card. I have the Delkin one, and it works well, and works far faster (at least 5x) than the non-CardBus versions.
