Wireless Issues

#1 Post by Excitebike » Fri Aug 17, 2007 11:36 am

- So here's the deal

I've got a T60P with the Atheros ABGN card inside.

This wireless functions great but i lose my ability to connect to any network if my computer comes out of hibranate or standby with the bios switch on and/or the wireless enabled in the wireless client.

If i remember to turn them off before i hibranate then it will work when I get back on, sounds like a windows fix so i'm not totally sure if i want to believe its the hardware.

Before i go on long tech calls with IBM I'd like the get a second opinion. Is this a hardware issue?

The fix is to restart the computer and all is well. Rather annoying but livable for now.

(I duel boot XP and ubuntu, but i havn't found any working ABGN drivers for linux (madwifi?). I'm guessing that would be the easiest test so if anyone know anything please help

well are you using Access Connections in Windows? Try enabling WZC in Windows (to use the default windows connection) to manage the WiFi and see if that makes a difference

I've had this issue with T43, 3000, and T60p. If you haven't tried this already, right click the connection icon in your system try and select "repair". At least this s/b easier than a restart. If you do not have this icon in your tray you can check this option in the properties page. I've had better luck using either WZC or Access Connection, but turn WZC off if I am using Access Connection, and vice versa. Also, you might try Intel's software which you can pull directly from their site. I've had good luck with this.

I had a similar problem with losing connectivity during normal usage.

Go to Lenovo and download
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... TVAN-ACONN
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-67351

For reasons I don't understand, the newest wireless drivers/access connection drivers are not propagated by the system update and have to manually downloaded. When I updated everything, the problem with disconnecting vanished. This is a little different from your hibernation issue but might be worth exploring.
