T61 4:3 - What the heck is going on with Lenovo?

#1 Post by STRYPER » Sat Aug 18, 2007 2:15 am

So of course after finally hearing the great news about there actually being a 14" 4:3 screen and then seeing all the discounts going on right now i decided to buy one. I spent the last few days pricing everything out and now, when i finally go to buy they arent there!!!

Its 12:15am PST (im in CA). Whats the deal, why did they disappear so suddenly???

On top of that, i looked down further on the ordering page where is says "Compare Series Detail" and it says that 14.1" standard screens arent available for the T61. But then under the "View Models" for the 14" it states "14.1 or 14.1 widescreen display".........

????????????????????? :(

Please tell me its coming back!!!

They are gone indeed at the moment. Perhaps Lenovo is just revisiting the standard 14.1" configs.

Lenovo.com goes through maintenance on late weekends. You'll certainly see T61p back again. As far as other models are concerned, due to peak buying season with back to the school time, lenovo is having supply problems with 14.1 standard and WXGA+ panels.

it's still available.   if you're ready to order then just call 866-96-THINK and take care of it the old fashioned way.

of course.   call lenovo and you'll be able to order a T61p with no problem.   you will, however, get a small speech about how they are both backordered and that the lead time might be in excess of six weeks.

when specific models are projected to be backordered for longer than four weeks then IBM/lenovo will pull that model from their website.   they've done this for the last twelve years that i've been buying thinkpads. ;)

Thanks. I ordered mine July 12 but canceled and rebooked July 26th when prices dropped. My current estimated ship date is August 28th. My original and canceled order arrived August 13th (Lenovo's goof) and went back to Lenovo August 16th. It was hard to see it go.

i ordered last month, canceled, then re-ordered on thursday.   by friday morning the T61p was pulled from lenovo's site.   my ship date is now 10/15/07... ouch.   my order is through EPP and they typically ship more quickly than the rest.   let's hope so.

anyway, my sales rep said that they're backordered until the WUXGA samsung displays come in and that they aren't shown on the site to help minimize backorders.   i didn't ask about the 14.1" SXGA+ and why it's backordered -- i'd guess because of popularity.

Wow that's fast! Congrats on snapping the 4:3 T61 before they are gone.

It's a T7100, 512MB RAM, Intel graphics, Bluetooth, no Fingerprint, WWAN Verizon Rev A, cdrw/dvd combo, Atheros ABG, 6 cell battery and 3 years depot warranty.

I hope it will be the coolest running and longest battery life laptop (without battery protrusion) I own. I won't use the Verizon but hey it doesn't cost extra and the antenna will be useful.

I have 2x2GB memory coming as well. Planning to run Windows XP x64 and VMWare.

I ordered my 14.1" SXGA+ T61p on 8/08 with an ESD of 8/27. Other's placed very similar orders to mine-same basic config and screen-a few days after me and their orders have already shipped. Yet, mine is still showing in process with the original 8/27 ESD.

It just doesn't make a lot of sense, and now I can understand other people's frustration over their orders the last couple of months. You would think my order would have already gone out, but nope. It's not like I am in dire need of it, so it's not a big deal-but it just seems like Lenovo needs to do something about their ordering/supply/production system.
I lost count...

Since this has now degenerated into a shipping discussion, it is being locked.

Please continue any shipping discussions in the one-and-only shipping thread, which is in a sticky at the top of the T6x forum.

Cheers,
