ShaggyMac vs. Screensavrz

#1 Post by k3vb0t » Wed Oct 27, 2004 5:10 pm

Just ordered my T42 2378-FVU. Ordered 512MB extra memory from Crucial. Ordered the Booq Powersleeve 14. All that is left is screen protection. Many have said Screensavrz, some have said ShaggyMac.

Which is better? Identical (for the most part) products?

As I understand it, the Screensavrz would be the 14-17" std. screen (4:3 ratio), and the ShaggyMac would be a custom made 13.1/14.1" with dimensions: 12 1/8thin x 10in for $14.95. Or should I go with 12 1/4in?

Thoughts appreciated. Looking forward to joining the forum and actually having a Thinkpad... ;)

Hey again. This post is funny. I have a 2378-FVU, and I ordered 512 from Crucial, and I have a Powersleeve 14. You probably know all that already though.

Not sure if you know this also, but I just ordered the Screensaverz. I actually didn't know about shaggy mac at the time. if I had though, now that I look at the site, i still probably would have gone with the Screensaverz. For the most part, being an iPod enthusiast also, RadTech seems to be a quality company. They make some ipod things also.

I don't know the exact differences between the RadTech and the microfiber that the Shaggy mac uses, but the Radtech cloth sounds more exotic... :D

I noticed shaggymac has the screen protector, not the cloth, but the clear "macally screen protector" that you lay over your screen. They cost $19.99 for 3 in a package. Has anyone tried these and can report on its quality? If it feels any different looking at the screen through the protector? anything at all? ;)

That link leads you to a page where you can custom fit a cloth screen protector for the T42. Go over the colors, it shows it on the keyboard.

I ordered the ShaggyMac Custom Screen Protector for my T42, and it fits perfectly. My previous ThinkPad was scarred with permanent marks from traveling. I am going to use the ShaggyMac religiously, plus it is super soft to wipe down the screen. The Radtech and ShaggyMac are around the same price, but the difference is the ShaggyMac can be ordered to your exact custom measurement. I also highly recommend the iKlear spray polish, it works great on all surfaces. www.shaggymac.com

Just noticed that www.shaggymac.com launched a new website. They are giving a gift with every order. I emailed and asked what type of gift??? = Free Microfiber Wipe worth $5.95. ...so I gave them a try. Thanks for all the info guys.

ShaggyMac vs. Screensavrz

Why get a generic fit? I just got a ShaggyMac custom protector for my T42 and its perfect, exact specs that I ordered. I figured that they are pretty much the same thing, but ShaggyMac has been carrying PC versions longer and its custom made.
