where to buy replacement MB for t43?

#1 Post by FrancisB » Sun Aug 19, 2007 12:26 am

Hi,

I have a t43 (model 2668-75U) that has (what I think), is a dead motherboard; It won't give me any beeps, doesn't ever attempt to read the disk drive, and won't go into the BIOS.

I'd like to know if it's feasible or cost effective to get a replacement MB, but I have no clue where.

Is it worth a few hundred bucks to replace the MB, the rest of the system is in great shape physically, or should I just part it out?

Can someone suggest a place where I could order a new MB?

Incidentally, are MB's hard to install? :-)

thanks in advance.

You can try searching e-bay. You can also try to post a wanted ad in the marketplace here for it as well.

If you haven't worked on laptops before, then you are going to need to download a copy of the hardware maintenace manual for your specific machine. Study it. Then do the breakdown.

I would attempt the motherboard change myself, even with little experience. It's fun to do, relatively easy (providing you have read the HMM and have some good tools) and it can save you some cash.

Most T43s are still under warranty. Check that first. The best way to replace a motherboard is to have someone else pay for it and do the work.
