Is This T41 Worth It?
Maybe he can sell it to himself? that means he got the 699 for it and he gets to keep it!!SaberX wrote:Theres a guy here in my town up here in Canada selling a T41, 14.1" xga,512 ram,40g,1.6ghz.He said where the new thinkpads are well over 1000.00 new , he wants $699.00 and will only drop it like 50.00.
I'd rather have a 3 year old IBM than a new Dell (or HP)...

Is this worth 500? Apparently it has a small smudge on the screen but is only notecable when the laptop is off.

Re: Not a bad price
Actually i remember some of the absolutely last T42 models offered for sale were XGA models with MR9600 64MB, there were quite a few models of those, but AFAIK only introduced in the last few months before the T42 was completely phased out of production.scosgt1 wrote:But a T42 with a 64MB video card and XGA display would be unusual. That vintage machine usually only had enhanced video ram with an enhanced LCD.
So it's probably a T42 with a lot of warranty left - unless it has been modded of course

No but he said he'll replace a 256MB chip with a 1GB ram chip for 1256MB ram. is it worth 500 though...??wearetheborg wrote:Any warranty left on it ?
I was thinking of offering 450? he's really reluctant on going below 500.

With 1.25 GB ram, and the 64mb video card 450 is a bit low.CRSO wrote:wearetheborg wrote:
Try for 475.
500 with no warranty is just a tad high. If it had 3 months or so of warranty remaining, I would have said 525.
