FS: Stripped T41 for Parts or Repair

#1 Post by whizkid » Sun Aug 19, 2007 4:58 pm

ThinkPad T41 for sale, type 2373-7FU.

I managed to install Fedora Linux 7, but operation is very inconsitent. I think it has a bad systemboard. IBM service said there was "spill damage" so the warranty was voided. I ran PC Doctor and confusingly, all tests passed.

14.1" XGA display works, but there are three TrackPoint-sized pressure marks easily visible on a solid gray background, all
annoyingly in the upper-left quadrant.

Hard disk, battery and AC adapter are NOT included. Hard drive caddy and cover ARE included, but the drive retention screw is not.

The Fn key is missing, many keys are shiny and the D decal is just starting to flake off. The palmrest has a tiny corner missing. I'll take pictures if there's interest.

These work fine:
The case is nice, say 8 of 10. One of the rubber feet is missing.
There is a Windows XP Pro COA attached.
1.6GHz CPU works and is included.
512MB RAM works and is included.
The CD-RW/DVD drive works and is included.

Local sale near 55106 is preferred, but I'm happy to ship. I'll take cash, check, money order or PayPal (if you pay fees) in US funds only. I'd rather avoid sales outside US and Canada, but won't rule it out.

To recap: Nice case with COA, caddy and drive cover, usable 14.1" XGA screen, 1.6GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and CD-RW/DVD combo drive.

First crazy person to offer $200 takes it, otherwise make offers by private message or e-mail me at chris@idlelion.net.

I have good feedback here, and on eBay as whizkid.

I have no recovery media and the restore partition is gone, so not yet. I suppose I could use another copy for testing...
