Erratic Mouse - Thinkpad 600X

Ok, the mouse is really not that bad - however, occasionally the mouse does move toward one direction very slow.

Could this be a sign of bad trackpad stick or is it just some sort of a driver issue?

It could be just calibrating itself, if you keep your finger on the trackpoint for a while without releasing it you will notice a drift towards an earlier point of reference.
