for those who use CCleaner

#1 Post by npish » Mon Aug 20, 2007 2:13 am

I've heard a lot of good things about CCleaner--the freeware app to clean out old registry settings, tmp files and the like--and I'm wondering if most people find it safe to let it 'do its thing' so to speak, and clear out everything it finds?

I went through the results and manually deleted a few registry entries for apps I have uninstalled, but I'm a bit apprehensive about letting it "fix" everything it's found.....

Anybody have any comments/opinions as to the reliability of this app and the "cleaning" it performs?

I have been using it since I came to know about it's existence and have used it on every thinkpad I've touched. I would rate it safe and very efficient freeware tool.

The only problems that it can cause are ones you asked it to. Nothing detrimental, but make sure you know what each check box is going to do.

honestly, I'd rather have it steal my party pickles than corrupt my registry

thanks for the responses though; that's enough confirmation for me.

CCleaner works great I've been using it for awhile, along with RegCleaner with no problems...

Hello,

I use it on every machine I own/use.

I have never had a problem with it. :)

It's not the only one I use.

Super Cleaner is a nice soft too. Give it a try.

It tends to mess up Office settings (toolbars and such), so I keep the MS Office checkbox unticked.

CCleaner works great on my T40. I use bootvis as well to take a few seconds of the ol' boot time....
