repairing lcd on a z60t

#1 Post by zyce » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:52 am

ok so a few hrs ago office froze up 4 a 2nd time and made me loose an hour worth of work (making me miss my deadline) so in that moment of rage & frustration i threw my pen at the laptop....... and it cracked the lcd T.T now the screen is just f'd up, there is the crack, up down distorted lines, and a big dead patch.

the thinkpad i have is a titanium lid z60t and I was wondering if someone can give me a rough estimate of how much it would cost to replace the screen parts + labor? also if it's possible to DIY because I'm only a college student w/ not a lot of dough to spend (my warranty is passed)

also i'm in Toronto so if any1 knows any good repair shops plz let me know.

thanks 4 the help

In my opinion, the best and easiest way to fix this is to buy a used display lid complete from ebay or some other source. I have done this once with a ThinkPad 600E and once with a ThinkPad T42. This is fairly easy repair - at least on the models I worked with. I just bought the display lid compete on ebay for my T42 last month for about $125 shipped.
