T42 Motherboard

Greetings all!

The time has come to replace the motherboard in my beloved t42.

I have done this before on many other laptops so the actual change is not that big of a deal.

The question i have is that the original FRU is 27K9980. is there a newer/better? FRU I should look for. I searched through the forum and didn't really find a straight up answer. I would really like to upgrade on the video if possible.

Hello,
Sure, you can get a motherboard with either Mobility Radeon 9600, or FireGL-T2. The former is 64 MB, the latter is 128 MB.
Both are about the same speedwise, and about 2.5x faster than the Mobility Radeon 7500.

I can't find the actual FRU part. no anywhere on Lenovos or IBMs site that you stated. Are you 100% sure it is correct?

Fairly sure. Its the FRU under the memory socket...
