T43-p HDD upgrade question

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed several times and there also is a sticky. But I have tried and I am confused so I ask my question in this new thread. Please give me a definitive answer as to what is the best option.

I have t-43 2687 D4U (15" , 40gb, 1.5 gb, ...). My HDD has been packed to its max and i am sick of deleting stuff daily. I need to know how I can increase and what should I go for. someone said something about extra space in the 15", but I dont know what he was talking about. And no, I dont want to get rid of my DVD drive (I need it for playing my game

Hi: When someone told you there was extra space in the 15", the problem isn't that you don't know what he's talking about. The problem is that HE doesn't know what he's talking about. There are 2 basic choices:

Add a USB drive. It is easy. There are no special requirements. The problem is that you have something else to carry around, and that data retrieval is slower for larger files.

Replace your drive. The advantage is that everything looks the same as it does now, but with more space. Drives are available in 60GB, 80GB, 100GB, 120GB and 160GB sizes. The downside is that T43s are picky about their drives (there are several long threads about 2010 bios error). Also, cloning the disk can be complicated. There are also threads about that.

Thanks richk. So is there a known fool proof solution to the error problem. I mean, whats my best and also economical solution. I would like atleast 80gb space.

There is not really any big trouble with this error. Just set the BIOS to continue after an error and you will barely see the error. I really don't know what the big deal is.
