favicon.ico, is it there?

#1 Post by selvan777 » Thu Oct 28, 2004 12:49 pm

Would anyone care to tell me if an icon of a babies face, or a baby crawling, shows up in the address bar where you would ordinarily see the default "e" to the extreme left of the url using IE.

It's should be on my homepage here or in my signature below.

I have IE 6 and it just will not show no matter what I do.

Thanks

Nope. Just the regular "e".

With IE6, the favorites icon will only show up if you add your website to your favorites, and then will disappear again after a few weeks when the icon is overwritten in your web cache.
Isn't is amazing how MS adds a new feature to their browser to make surfing a little bit easier, and then fails to support it properly in its latest version? About time MS looses some market share, so they begin work on the browser again

Thanks all.

The icon does show in my favs but only because of faviconizer. I've tried all kinds of tricks like dragging and dropping here and there repeatedly. I'm convinced it's a bug of IE ever since it was born.

I'll give opera a try as a default browser, hopefully I'll like it. Are there any draw backs to it? I ask because I tried mozilla's firefox and too many regularly visited web sites would never load. It had great customizable features and I really hated going back to IE.

There are some css-features missing in opera and some that work but not in ie, just visual differences. In special cases opera can tell the server it´s the ie, that works fine.

Wow, I think I got it fixed finally, it actually shows up in my own IE now.

Could someone using IE that has not saved the page previously (optimistic thinking to the extreme here ...:) take a visit and let me know if it shows now?

Thanks a whole bunch.

P.S. if saved to the desktop, you should see a baby crawling.

no go in ie (in a fresh vm), just after adding it to the links, the icon shows up in the list, but not in the adress field.
