Bluetooth/Modem Card question
Bluetooth/Modem Card question
Hallo,
I have a T42p 2373-HTG and last week I was not able to connect to the Internet with the internal modem (RJ45). I called IBM and they gave me a new Bluetooth/Modem card (FRU 91P7319); I installed it and Windows told me: "New hardware found Bluetooth III" or something like and then "Your hardware is ready to use".
If I look in system resources I can find the Bluetooth device but when I create an Internet connection no modem are present. If I click the "Wireless" applet in the Control Panel and I search for new BT devices, no devices are found.
The card is new so it should work. Any idea to help me??
Thanks a lot, C.

Well,
simply I can't connect to the Internet with the normal cable connection (RJ45) because con normal modem are present in the system. It seems strange to me: the bt/modem card seems to be recognized from XP.
Maybe am I missing to do something?

Actually I didn't installed anything; the laptop is factory restored.
I can use my ethernet connection with no problem.
While writing to you I am trying to restore again factory content from the IBM CDs. I could not use any diagnostic program because while I can see a BT device in system resources I can't see any modem. IBM told me that they are on the same card. I tried with the Thinkpad configuration program but the modem icon has a "turned off led" and is disabled. When I try to enable it the program tells me that Internal modem has not been found.
I suppose I have no hardware problems because the laptop is new, the BT card is new and changed yesterday, BT seems to work.

perhaps it is a problem in your bios. by mistake did you turn off your modem? thus making it not able to "see" it in windows...i know it's kind of stupid seeing that both bluetooth and the modem are on the same daughtercard but then again in the comupting world anything is possible.
i once recoverd my data from a crashed hd by putting it in the freezer for about 45mins..of course in two air tight(as it could get) ziplock bags

Yes, you're right.
Everything is possible
Anyway, can you suggest me what to check in the BIOS?
I tried to find the modem to activate but I didn't find anything except serial and parallel port, USB support, and so on...
My laptop is 2373HTG, maybe I can find some information in the IBM site?
