#1 Post by tony6264 » Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:43 pm

I am looking for an X22 battery to buy...also curious as to how much this X22 I just got is worth...it is in pretty good condition physically and still has the restore partition in place...18 gig harddrive, 260 ram, Windows 2000 loaded with COA., and it came with a external USB CD rom...any ideas on its value?

Curiously enough, I'm looking for several X22 batteries as well. Current prices on eBay are running around $25-$35 but without checking each completed auction, I don't know if these are aftermarket batteries or genuine IBM. I would suspect that all of the "new" ones are aftermarket.

As far as what it's worth, you should probably check the recently closed auctions at eBay to see what the high-end is:

http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/AdvSearch

Enter "ibm x22" in the search box and click the "Completed listings only" box for sales in the past 30 days. When you get the hundreds of listings, look in the lefthand column (under "Narrow your results"), click the "more..." link, then click "Laptops, Notebooks". As eBay does not allow searching of the auction text, only the titles, it might take some time to locate a system similar enough to yours to make a valid comparison. Then realize you are probably not going to get as much as that if you sell your system here. We're cheap!

Such a system is worth around $190, i.e. that's how much people are willing to pay for it, and if postage is say $15, you get $175.

I just bought an aftermarket battery for my x23 on ebay, and I have had horrible issues with the battery meter.

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=47809

For the last 3 cycles it has said 3-9% charged after being plugged in overnight, and yet it runs for 2-2.5 hours on this charge.

I just wanted to let you guys know, so you can be careful where you buy your batteries. It works fine, but not having a reliable battery gauge is inconvenient.

I'd be looking for a battery as well. I may just get one from eBay, though.

Well I recieved the battery from the Ebay vendor and the first one would not take any charge...after talking to the vendor he agreed to send me a different battery and this one is working great...holds over 3 hours of charge...and really was not that expensive...i think about $28.00 shipped...and it is genuine IBM....I am still trying to figure out how to get the info for how many cycles though.

With the Battery MaxiMiser program downloaded and installed, you should have a green battery icon next to the system tray. Click on it, select "Battery Information", then the "Status Detail" tab. You should see something like this from my X24 battery:

The number of charge cycles is listed at the bottom of that window.

OK..I finally got everything loaded and see what you are talking about...now it says 0 cycles..so should I assume that since it was not charged at all when I got it that it is starting over? Or is it possible that this is a un-used battery.

Unused; brand new. The battery's memory would have been initialized to zero when it was made. Each time the battery reaches a certain discharge point (not exactly sure what that is) and is then attached to a charger, the count will increase. Make a note of the "Full charge capacity" in that same window. You will see it decrease with age and after numerous charge cycles.

So you are saying this battery is probably brand new?....SWEET...nice deal for 28 bucks!!!
I have been using it pretty much all day...on and off and it still has about an hour and a half of charge left....and I really like this X22...it is so light and easy to take along...also plenty of computing power for the stuff I do...internet browsing and Email...and this Forum of course!!
thanks

Also would like to clarify something so i dont sound like a complete idiot...I DID have battery maxmiser installed, however it was from the original install of win 2000...I upgraded to Win XP and had not un-installed it...after I did the uninstall and installed the win XP version...that is when I got the results that I just posted...I really did not want to sound like I was completely stupid.
