power management challenges on T22

#1 Post by houseofstrauss » Thu Oct 28, 2004 2:16 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and new to IBM AND I'm a bit of a technophobe  - so be gentle with me while I try to explain the challenges I have:

The power management on my Thinkpad T22 appears not to work. It won't suspend / standby; it simply shuts down when I close the LCD or press the on/off key and will only re-start with a scan disk despite the settings I have made in the battery maximiser settings.

I have noticed that when I click on battery information it says that battery is not installed, battery remaining percentage is not installed etc.

Also, yesterday, I took the power lead out of the computer to work with it on battery and it shut down - again, needing a scan disk despite the battery being 100% charged. (Incidentally, when I received the laptop a week or so ago I ran it off battery for nearly 2 hours, so I don't think the battery is the problem here)

I tried to use the automated troubleshooters on the IBM website, but I was not getting any information - the download showed 100% but I did not receive any information such as the versions I have installed at the moment.

Can anyone offer me any advice or suggestions?

kind regards
Rachelle
