R60 w/ 1.5GB RAM & 3+ Years Accidental Damage Warranty
R60 w/ 1.5GB RAM & 3+ Years Accidental Damage Warranty
This is an absolutely like-new ThinkPad R60 (9457-8KU).
It has an Intel Core Duo T2400 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 80 GB hard drive, perfect 15 inch XGA screen, DVD Burner, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, TPM, and firewire.
It also has more than 3 years left on its upgraded ThinkPad Accidental Damage/ Depot Warranty, which covers not only normal warranty items but also provides for repair of your ThinkPad notebook in the event of certain accidental damage, including electrical surges, drops or falls, and liquid spills occurring during normal use. The warranty expires on 11/5/2010.
It is in mint condition. I have the original box, etc. for this computer.
I have been trying to sell a T43p here on the forum--I have two listed, and I planned to keep the one that did not sell. I still only want to sell one computer, but I will add this one to the mix. I still plan to sell just one, and keep the others. This R60 is a different animal than the T43p's, but with its Core Duo processor and the Accidental Damage/Depot Warranty, it has its own appeal.
I am working on a price, but make me a reasonable non-PayPal offer, and we will have deal.

Rex,
I'll wait and see what you come up with. Sounds like an excellent laptop. Any pics by the way??
FYI....on Ebay, R61's are going for $599-999. I've been looking.

I agree Ron, but Lenovo has been raping the R-series since they took the Flexviews off the R52's, and starting with the R61 it seems Lenovo isn't offering the same goodies standard anymore. First, they are all widescreens. Second, the warranty is going to be 1 year unless someone bids it up, and I've yet to see an R61 with more than 1 year basic EasyServ. Third, most all I've seen on ebay have basic combo drives. Fourth, you are getting 512MB RAM on those R61's on ebay as far as I've seen. Yes, the processor on this R60 isn't as new and it doesn't have the overrated (in my opinion) rollcage, but the extra RAM, far better optical, far better warranty so if you drop it who cares, and (for those who don't like widescreens) it comes as a 4:3. Besides all this, I am always a fan of the slightly used or opened box sale over a sealed box (though I'm in the minority) as I want to be sure there are no major screen issues, even though I don't have to take antiphsychotics for "one bad pixel syndrome" like many members have (a bad pixel or two isn't a big deal to me). This R60 has a good screen. I also trust Rex far more than a typical ebay seller. He's a good man.dorronto wrote:Rex,

Overall I would buy this R60 over any of the R61's I've seen to date. Rex, I sold the most loaded SXGA+ 15" R60 Lenovo made, with a 3-year EasyServ, for $1099 about 2 months ago if that helps you come up with a price.

Lenovo T60 (IPS) - Fujitsu ST5020D - Fujitsu Q2010 - Docks and accessories for each (and a roomfull of stuff I can't use.)
Thanks Ron and John for the thoughts--very helpful, as always. I could not have stated the case for the R60 any more clearly than John, so I will not even try.
The good, 4:3 screen is still highly preferable for most real work tasks, the Multiburner is very handy, and the Accidental Damage Warranty that still has 38 months or so remaining. I do not purchase that coverage on most of the ThinkPads I buy, but that warranty can protect against some fairly catastrosphic damage to the unit, such as it falling down stairs or off of the top of a car--oops! The accidental damage warranty is clearly preferable to a rollcage, if you are going to choose one or the other.
With this R60, however, I would just look at it as a very strong assurance that the computer will remain very functional for at least the next three years, for a very reasonable price. With the RAM upgrade and the warranty and the known good screen, this computer should be a very solid performer for someone over the life of the warranty and beyond.
I have reviewed the thoughts of the forum members here, as well as some recent E*Bay sales of semi-comparable units (I could not find any with the Accidental Damage Warranty). I think this unit would serve someone well and be a good value for $875 shipped and insured anywhere in the Continental U.S.
Note: Price Reduced to $825 shipped.
