LCD screen lost vertical hold IMAGE (pics)

#1 Post by hjanzen » Fri Aug 24, 2007 6:42 am

Hello,
The other day I mentioned my problem with the screen of my TP701C in the Legacy Hardware Forum.
It might have been overlooked, since nobody reacted, reason that I mention it here where probably more people are looking around.

As I switch the laptop on as soon as anything appears on the screen, starting from the memory count, the picture starts rotating vertically continiously.
It does not make any difference if I restart the laptop f.i. while depressing F1 (set up appears, rotating) or safe mode, battery mode or AC adapter. All the same.
Apart from the normal pictures on the screen 2 horizontal bars are visable, one dark grey, almost black, and a light grey one.
The rotating speed varies. but I would estimate at about 5 Hz.

I have connected an external monitor via the portreplicator. Perfect image!
The original display keeps rotating when I toggle between the two with Fn F7.
I add a picture of the arrangement with the external monitor connected and one after running the testprogram.
I have removed the keyboard, checked the display cable connection to the system board, seems OK to me.
I have moved the screen up and down many times, while in operation, tried to tilt the screen, no sign of reaction.
I am eager to repair the Tp, at reasonable cost, but would like to know if this might be a clear cut case as f.i. inverter or LCD screen failure.
Your help in resolving this serious problem is much appreciated.
