Service Partition file error

#1 Post by LB_BlueVue » Sat Aug 25, 2007 1:50 am

My Service Partition seems to have a problem.
Every time I go into the PreDesktop Area, I get a pop-up window that says:

Factory.exe corrupt file

The file or directory minint\setupapi.log is corrupt or unreadable.
Please run the CHKDSK utility

OK

----------
When I click OK, it just comes back. It won't go away as long as I'm in the PreDesktop Area.
How do I run CHKDSK on the service partition? Is there another way to fix this?
I tried booting from the R&R recovery CD, but couldn't get CHKDSK to run.

You could probably run CHKSDK from the Recovery Console of a Windows XP install CD.

Don't have one of those....
Is there a way to "reinstall" the service partition without messing anything else up?

Bump

I still get this problem. I also get it when I create a bootable RNR backup on a USB drive.

Sir, please call IBM at 1-800-426-7378 (24/7)! and explain what you're experiencing, they should send you a free set of Product Recovery Disks.
