how to install XP side by side with VIsta

subject saying it all....

i want to have a boot manager. i understand that i need to create another partition (primary) for VISTA. but where the boot manager comes from ?

If you install Vista on a machine that already has XP, then Vista will install a boot manager for you. You do lose the ability to boot into Rescue and Recovery though, unless you use the Rescue and Recovery - Recovery Repair Diskette.

thanks ! i will try it. as long i still don't have anything important installed on this new machine , this is the time.

that way if Vista won't support everything i got , i have a way out and back.

I installed the Virtual PC from MS (free) and then installed XP inside that. Seams to be doing OK.
